The Vineyards
Department of Philosophical Enology (D.O.P.E.)
Beginning in the 2005 vintage, we're pleased to announce that ALL of our wines are made from sustainable and ecologically sound organic farming methods. Our long-time vineyard partner at Croft Vineyards went to the extra efforts to become certified organic in 2005, our newest release. While our wines will not be "100% organic wines" because we follow ancient strategies to add sulfites during with winemaking process, we're very pleased to work with both Croft and Temperance Hill Vineyard to provide high quality wines that we can all feel good about.
Another important philosophy that is the fact that the owners and managers at Croft and Temperance Hill have a strong ethic to treat their workers with the respect and dignity they deserve. As a result, these invaluable members of the winemaking team help to craft and express each vintage in the field, and we remain engaged with each vintage from budbreak to the final bottle in the library.
Since we lease by the acre (rather than by the ton), everyone is out for the collective interest in capturing the vintage in the best possible light. Both Ray Nuclo (manager of Croft) and Dai Crisp (manager of Temperance Hill) treat winegrapes as food, and people as people. We are proud to support businesses that are ecologically and economically sustainable for the long term. After all, wine is not a fly-by-night enterprise, and you as consumers, should know there is a good story and good people behind our bottles.
